This organization was formed as a response to the spread of harmful cults. Mormons, Jehovah’s witnesses, the world mission society church of God, and other cults have spread through door to door evangelism, public tract passing, activities on college campuses, and other means.

Here are some shocking statistics.

In 2001, the world mission society church of God (a Korean cult) had 400,000 global members. In 2024, they have 4 million global members. The numbers have increased tenfold within only 25 years.

In 2025, Jehovah’s witnesses added over 300,000 baptized members to their ranks.

If groups that espouse false doctrine and distort the gospel can spread this rapidly, there is no excuse for the universal body of Christ expressed in the Protestant traditions to do the same through door to door evangelism, Public tract passing, and more avenues.

About

Ecumenism

Ecumenism: We believe that there are true Christians across many denominational lines. These Christians are our brothers and sisters despite disagreement on secondary issues. At Common Commission, we strive to work with fellow believers in different Protestant denominations to realize the great commission given to us by Christ.

Baptism

At Common Commission, we have differing views of baptism, but what we all have agreement on is this: The sacrament of baptism is very important and is an indispensable part of the great commission. Water baptism in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit should be applied as soon as possible to those who make a profession of faith. The encouragement of the newly justified believer to baptize their infants/young children will be up to the discretion of each denomination.

The Bible

The Bible is the God-breathed, Holy Spirit-inspired, inerrant, and infallible word of God that is the sole infallible authority for Christian faith and practice.

Justification

Justification is through faith alone in Christ alone and cannot be earned through good works. When a person is justified, they are acquitted and forgiven of the debt of death incurred by sin and they are covered in the perfect righteousness of Christ.

The Trinity

We believe in one God that exists eternally as three persons. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

What We Believe
